How we’re helping through this pandemic

Whilst the mandir building is closed for prayers, our mandir community have been busy over the last few weeks doing their bit to support people through this pandemic. Volunteers have rallied and below are just some of the activities they’ve been undertaking. Meals delivered to care homes and London Underground Staff:
On Friday 26th June, we prepared and delivered 200 meals to key workers at 5 Abbey Total Care Homes as well as Underground Staff.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Hot meals for frontline staff at King George and Goodmayes Hospitals:
We served 300 meals of kidney beans and corn curry with rice and peas to front line workers at King George and Goodmayes Hospitals on Friday 19th June.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Hot meals for key workers at Queens Hospital:
On Friday 12th June, we prepared and delivered 250 meals of mung bean curry and rice to key workers at Queens Hospital in Romford. This was with the support of the Mankuva gaam community.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Hot meals for staff at Basildon University University:
On Friday the 5th of June, volunteers prepared and delivered over 265 hot meals to frontline staff at Basildon University Hospital. We thank the sponsors of this week’s meal, FLM Wealth Management who are based in Moorgate, London.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Hot meals for staff at Whipps Cross Hospital:

Volunteers from the mandir cooked and delivered 200 hot meals of vegetable curry and rice to frontline workers at Whipps Cross Hospital on Friday 29th May, a small token of gratitude to those who are continuously working to protect us.

 

 

 

 

 

Hot meals for staff at Forest Gate Police Station and Newham University Hospital:

On Friday 22nd May, volunteers prepared vegetable biryani and raita (a yoghurt sauce) and delivered 50 meals to Forest Gate Police Station, and 150 meals to Newham University Hospital!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Hot meals for staff at North Middlesex University Hospital:

As a token of our gratitude for their efforts to protect the nation, on Thursday 14th May, the catering team, with the help of donors, delivered around 225 hot meals of potato curry and khichdi to NHS staff at North Middlesex University Hospital.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Clap for our Carers:

On Thursday the 7th of May, our mandir band and catering team headed over to Newham University Hospital. They delivered light snacks and a variety of fruit to the NHS staff. At 8pm, the band played outside in appreciation of the NHS and care workers, and were joined by NHS staff clapping and dancing. We thank NHS staff locally and nationally for all their work.

Food parcels for the elderly and vulnerable:

We wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who is doing their bit to tackle the virus, including the elderly and vulnerable who are staying at home. Your efforts are valuable to the entire nation. Volunteers from the mandir have been delivering food parcels and checking in with these members of the community.

Sahajanand School – Virtual Class Rooms

Due to the current situation regarding COVID 19, we stopped running Sahajanand School classes at our usual premises many weeks ago.

However, we are pleased to be able to continue  providing classes on a weekly basis, through virtual classrooms!

Ramnavmi & Swaminarayan Jayanti – Thursday 2nd April

Thursday 2nd April 2020 marks the birth of Lord Shree Ram and Lord Shree Swaminarayan.

For the first time ever, we will not be celebrating at the Mandir, but it’s in times like these, where we truly find our gratitude, courage and faith. So in the lead up to one of the biggest days of year, let’s take some time out to pray for those who have been greatly affected by this pandemic.

We are setting the EL community a target of 1008 Janmangal Namavali/Stotram to be completed by the evening aarti on Thursday.

Please provide your name and Janmangal count ONLY to 07555153786 so that we can keep track. The amount taken by individuals and/or family will count so everyone can take part.

All programmes on the day will be live streamed on our YouTube channel (link below). The daily katha will take place on the conference call as usual.

Shikshapatri Jayanti – Thursday 30th January

194 years ago, Shree Hari sat down in the Hari Mandap in Vadtal and wrote the Shikshapatri for the benefit of all living souls. Containing the essence of all the shastras including the Vedas, this small yet powerful scripture is the key to unlocking the power that resides within us.

Come join us on Thursday 30 January from 7:30pm onwards to partake in the pujan and recital of the Shikshapatri.

Please note there will be no Thursday Jam this week.

Seminar at SSW – Saturday 11th January

It gives us great pleasure to announce a special and unique seminar/discussion taking place for all ages on Saturday 11th January 2020 from 7:15pm for 7:30pm start, in collaboration with HSS-UK, SSW and SKSST.

The session is meant to give a great comparisons of Hinduism hosted by a scholar of Islam & Arabic studies. The speaker may be an outsider but is very well known to the collaborating organisations. Nothing controversial or political is portrayed.

If you are already intrigued, then come and have a listen. It’s an interactive session explaining from the speaker’s point of view why Hinduism is not only a “religion” but a way of life!
Prashad nasto will be provided thereafter from 8:30pm.

Saak Utsav – Sunday 12th January

Jay Swaminarayan and Happy New Year!

To mark the end of this auspicious month of Dhanurmaas – Saak Utsav has been organised by our Mandir on Sunday 12th January.

Swaminarayan Bhagwan first did Saak Utsav in Loya in the presence of many haribhaktos and santos, cooking over a 1000kg of aubergines, adding a variety of masala to make the most delicious saak!

8.30 to 9.30am – Dhanurmaas Dhun
6.30pm onwards – Live Saak Utsav in presence of Bhuj Dham santo

Come along with friends and family members! There will be prashad served thereafter in the dining hall for all.
