History: On Shri Raja’s birthday, the whole family went to give out freebies to kids and on the way back a toddler held Gadiwalashree’s saree no chedo and would not let go. That touched her heart and at that point she decided to do something for them. Years went by and finally Kalupur mandir bought land behind the mandir for this purpose to make an Ashram for girls.

Gadiwalashree welomes donations for the ashram but her main pride is for people to visit Aangan and see what facilities they have and what’s missing.

Sharad Poonam – Sunday 13th October

Please join us for Sharad Punam raas on Sunday 13th October from 7:30-9:30pm.

”Sharad” – The season marking the end of monsoon and the beginning of winter.
”Poonam” – Full moon day.

On this day, when the moon is at its brightest, Maharaj played raas with many santos and haribhaktos. The kirtan ‘Juo Juo Sahelio Aaj Rasio Raas Rame…‘ depicts one such amazing occasion in Panchala, when Maharaj took multiple forms and played raas with each devotee under the light of the moon.

Also on this day, Krshna Bhagwan played raas with the gopi’s in Vrundavan. Just like the moon glows in the sky, Vrundavan was glowing with Krshna Bhagwan’s presence. He took his flute out and the air was filled with the sweetest sound.

On hearing this sweet sound the gopi’s immediately abandoned everything and rushed towards this sound. This showed how devoted they were to Krshna Bhagwan. Their devotion and love for Him was so great that the gopi’s commenced playing raas around Him. Krshna Bhagwan and Radhikaji played raas in the middle and eventually He assumed as many forms as there were Gopi’s and played raas with each and every one of them.

The essence of this event is that our devotion for God should be like the love of the Gopi’s to Krshna.

Traditionally dudh pakh and puri is offered to Maharaj and taken as prasad. Raas is played with great fervor in the mandir.

Ladies Night – Saturday 14th September

After the success of numerous Yuvak Nights, on Saturday 14th September, the yuvatis of East London Mandir are hosting their very own Ladies Night! Come along for some food, games and captivating discussions on the topics that affect us all as women in this society.

Bring your thinking caps for an intriguing escape rooms style puzzle, where you’ll have to test your team work and logical reasoning. Immerse yourselves in a tropical forest, surrounded by the sounds of birds, the rustling of monkeys moving through the trees and a trail of clues to help you get to safety. As the clock counts down, the pressure is on for The Great Escape.

We’re also holding a Nari Shakti Exhibition – honoring women from all walks of life that have left an impact on us – from household names and personal connections, to those unknown names and faces around the world that provide us a new lens through which we can view the world.

If there’s a woman you’d love to honour, upload an image of her in action along with a short caption explaining why here.

We’d also be grateful if you could register your interest in attending using the same page.
